I am a drummer and composer, writing music in the jazz tradition. I draw on my varied set of influences, including rock, funk, and Americana. I hold a passion for music education and children's media, both literature and music. I am a writer of fiction and poetry, as well as a cartoonist. I believe in the artist's responsibility to continue the ongoing conversation of art, music, and culture, as well as to help others on the same path. This requires broad listening, personal reflection, and constant dedication to one's craft. Jazz especially has deep roots in live performance and requires an awareness of musical tradition as well as a willingness to experiment. As the state of music is changing more rapidly than ever before, it is more important than ever to maintain artistic integrity. I value honest communication, reliability, and collaboration in all my pursuits.
